Re: Let's blow some new life into this community group

We had a similar discussion on the buddycloud-dev mailing list (

The conclusion was that nobody has a clue or could agree on what profile
data should or must contain and a one-size fits all structured data
approach will result in a kinda design-by-committee format that looks like
vCard.

Better to let users describe themselves in free text and pull out
information - if it looks like a phone number - add a "tel:" hlink. If it
looks like a github profile, link to that. But forcing a user into a
structured vCard like system isn't going to work.
