Dear Yukiko Ogura, thank you for your liaison to the EXI WG, it is of great interest to us. We are sorry if you got the impression that the W3C WG working on efficient XML representations was closed: in fact it is simply the phase 1 group that was in charge of exploring the terrain (the XBC WG) that was closed, but since it was successful, the EXI WG was created to replace it, tasked with the creation of an actual format. As you can expect, embedding XML metadata in a variety of file format, including naturally JPEG, is definitely a use case for the format that the EXI WG is in the process of developing. Consequently, we would be very interested in receiving some sample data exemplifying the usage that you are making of XML. Using that we could add it to our test framework and validate the fact that our format works for that use case as well. Concerning the current status of the EXI WG, we are at the end of the experimental phase and moving ahead into the specification track. We expect to have early drafts to show in January, and to have completed our work within next year. Thank you for your interest, please do not hesitate to contact us with further questions should you have any, -- Robin Berjon Senior Research Scientist Expway, http://expway.com/
