Hi all

I'm the CTO for the Icelandic Talking Book Library, a state run service for all who can't read printed materials. We are using Daisy book at the moment but moving to EPUB3, hopefully sometime this year. Our main interest is in accessibility of books and we're working closely with our Nordic equivalent libraries, both technically but also in increasing awareness amongst publishers in our countries inside NIPI https://nipi.care/. In 2020 NIPI hosted a conference with quite interesting presentations from leading experts, some of which are also in this group, see https://nipi.care/conference/conference-program/ for recordings of the presentations.

My particular interest is in the development of 'full-text' books, combining narrated audio and text books which are especially useful for dyslexic people and working with EPUB3 in that context. We're currently working on an update to our system to automate the creation of full-text books which will be up and running later this year, having received a small grant to do this. Version 0.1 of this software is available at https://github.com/hljodbokasafnid/Ascanius which is basically a pre-processor for https://www.readbeyond.it/aeneas/. Feel free to contact me if you find this interesting in any way.

I'm basically lurking here to follow developments, will of course pitch in if I have something useful to contribute.

My best
Gunnar

Hello, i am Livio and i am nothing interesting :). I worked a lot on
accessibility and editorial process and contributed to italian
accessibility laws.
I am following developments, reading here and here, but i am very sad
to say that i see nothing really interesting growing.
Sorry for the sincerity
