Hi All,
At today's Publishing Business Group meeting, we decided to get started on the epubcheck task force. I offered to be the point person, which means I will tell other people what to do but will not do anything myself. If you have not already signed up for this task force and are interested, please add your name to the list [1].
Romain and Tobias have put together an epubcheck workplan [2]. In today's meetings [3], we talked about some of the overarching issues facing epubcheck. Avneesh pointed out that epubcheck is not ready for open collaboration because of the state of the code. I think our first priority needs to be resolving that issue by looking at the goals that Romain and Tobias already identified and figuring out how we can make these into achievable tasks that can be accomplished by someone who is not yet familiar with epubcheck. Matt also had suggestions for improving epubcheck. Before we start planning phone calls, please add your suggestions about specific goals to the task force wiki [4]. I will send a doodle poll shortly. I hope that most of the work can happen over email and github and we can avoid frequent calls.
Romain and Tobias, I will be in touch with you separately.
Thank you,
Tzviya
