Phil,

I think I see where you are coming from. And it is obviously a challenge to
not just duplicate other standards in schema.org (like CTDL).

However, isn't "My inclination would be to leave it for later, when we know
more about how people use these properties." the classic chicken and the
egg problem? people won't use it because it doesn't cover their use case?
and we won't build it because we don't see the use case needed?
