Fwd: [Hep-list] No cost Disaster Communications webinar 9/24/13 1 PM CST

Carsten and all,

It looks to me that what we /do-aim to do/ here is inevitably part of 'the
solution' in the seminar below

I am short on b/width and odd timezones, and cannot be online much, but
should anyone from this list be interested in pitching our activities to
these folks, this could be an opportunity to get more people involved and
find strenghten the alignment with the 'real world'

best

There are a lot of no cost webinars out there, and I think I should
probably keep sending these announcements out since EM needs vary widely.
Registration is required, as usual. Please feel free to share this if
needed. ****

The most critical elements of a natural or man-made disaster plan are
communications and logistics. The very nature of disasters, however, is a
massive disruption to both. We will examine the multifaceted nature of
disaster communication across phases of a disaster, learning from real-life
incidents and planning for likely disruptions and response.****

In this webinar, Major Greene will discuss:****

The Phases of a disaster.****

The likely (and unlikely) communications needs of government, military,
first-responders, public health, volunteers, media, and victims.****

Telecommunications Infrastructure: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.****

Hurricane Sandy: What went wrong, what went right, and how we will improve
it.****
