Jose, according to the summary, this white paper addresses five key considerations related to long-term data retention: http://datasolutions.searchdatamanagement.com/document;101159/datamgmt-abstract.htm However, registration is required in order to view it.

Perhaps we could engage someone from the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) to help with this issue: http://www.snia.org/about/news/newsroom/pr/view?item_key=b5122ec64ecf57fdc6b95d2e80f27b1540ee08f1 Two of the standards upon which they appear to be working include: Self-Describing Self-Contained Data Format (SD-SCDF) & eXtensible Access Method (XAM).

BTW, SNIA's mission and goal statements are available in StratML format at http://xml.gov/stratml/SNIA.xml Their contact information is available at http://www.snia.org/about/organization/staff/

ISSUE-29 (long-term): add pending text to long term [Long Term Data Management]

http://www.w3.org/2007/eGov/IG/track/issues/29

Raised by: José Manuel Alonso
On product: Long Term Data Management

Section still empty, getting likely we won't be able to have it ready. If that's the case, add some reference in Next Steps (see ISSUE-28) to this as an important area that the Group would explore further in the future.
