@kcoyle : I concur with your idea that we should not be too speculative here. In the spirit of accommodating the different legitimate positions, provided that we do not mention code and software explicitly,  Would the following sentence (the same proposed in the previous post https://github.com/w3c/dxwg/issues/1221#issuecomment-600023334) work for you?   Note that the part not in bold was already included in  DCAT 2 sec 5.1 third item.

> dcat:Dataset represents a dataset. A dataset is a collection of data, published or curated by a single agent **or identifiable community**. **The notion of 'dataset' in DCAT is broad and inclusive, with the intention of accommodating resource types arising from all communities.** Data comes in many forms including numbers, text, pixels, imagery, sound and other multi-media, and potentially other types, any of which might be collected into a _dataset_.
