I agree with @agreiner about confusion for the reader. I have a vague memory that this is also discussed elsewhere but can't find it at the moment. I think the question, as Annette puts it, is whether the use of functional profile is absolutely necessary given the potential for confusion. I don't understand the insistence on this term when at least three of us (Annette, Antoine, and myself) have argued against it. The OGC practice is not enough to prove a general case. Can we cast our net wider to attempt to determine how this term might be read by an audience? Perhaps in our call for review of the next WD we could ask specifically for readers to look at this and say whether they found it confusing.
