@kcoyle I just wanted to react to you statement above: "_I do not consider those files [...] "distributions" in the natural language sense_". The case is that at least one maintainer of an application profile, https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/release/dcat-ap/12, does call those associated files 'Distributions' so I am not sure that our discussion about the use of this term is relevant.
