Hi All. On behalf of the W3C Data Privacy Vocabularies and Controls Community Group (DPCG), we are proud to announce the release of DPV 2.0 https://github.com/w3c/dpv/releases/tag/dpv-2.0. DPV 2.0 is a major release with 2198 classes and 196 properties across DPV and its extensions that significantly improve and expand the scope and usefulness of what was already an amazing state of the art resource in DPV 1.0. To further support dissemination of this resource, we have https://www.dpvcg.org/ as a simple (marketing) URL for sharing information about DPV which provides links to all the specs. The development repo for management of code and issues is on GitHub: https://github.com/w3c/dpv. A search index of all concepts from DPV and its extensions is available at: https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/search Recently, the article Data Privacy Vocabulary (DPV) -- Version 2 https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.13426 which describes DPV 2.0 in terms of its contents, methodology, current adoptions and uses, and future potential has been accepted for presentation at the 23rd International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC 2024). The formal process for W3C community groups is to publish and archive the outputs on w3.org - which is underway. A separate email will be used to share those links when they are published. Moving ahead, we have already begun work on the next version of DPV, tentatively labelled '2.1-dev', planned for release in December 2024. we welcome participation for further improving and enhancing the DPV: see https://github.com/w3c/dpv/milestone/5 == Specifications - Data Privacy Vocabulary (DPV) https://w3id.org/dpv - The Primer https://w3id.org/dpv/primer is an introductory document for newcomers to understand the DPV and its concepts. - A 2 Page Short Primer https://w3id.org/dpv/primer/concise provides a succinct introduction to the DPV. === Extensions - Personal Data (PD) https://w3id.org/dpv/pd provides a taxonomy of personal data categories - Location (LOC) https://w3id.org/dpv/loc provides a taxonomy of location concepts based on ISO 3166 (countries, regions) - Technology (TECH) https://w3id.org/dpv/tech provides a taxonomy of technology concepts - AI https://w3id.org/dpv/ai provides a taxonomy of AI concepts extending the TECH extension - Justifications https://w3id.org/dpv/justifications provides concepts for representing justifications i.e. why something must be done or could not be done - Risk https://w3id.org/dpv/risk provides concepts for risk assessment and management === Legal Extensions - European Union (EU) https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/eu - GDPR https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/eu/gdpr - DGA https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/eu/dga - AI Act https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/eu/aiact - Charter of Fundamental Rights https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/eu/rights - Germany (DE) https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/de - Ireland (IE) https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/ie - India (IN) https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/in - United Kingdom (GB) https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/gb - United States of America (USA) https://w3id.org/dpv/legal/usa == Summary of Changes See full changelog https://w3c.github.io/dpv/2.0/changelog === Major Changes The following are the major changes: . Change in Ontology IRI: DPV 2.0 introduces versioned IRIs e.g. https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0 refers to 2.0 and https://w3id.org/dpv/1.0 refers to 1.0. The versionless IRI https://w3id.org/dpv will now always point to the latest version of DPV (which is 2.0 for this release) https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-iri . Change in semantics: The '`default`' DPV specification now uses RDFS+SKOS to declare its semantics. DPV using OWL2 semantics is now provided within the same folder with a -owl prefix https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-semantics . Change in Scope: The scope of 1.0 concerned processing of personal data and DPV concepts concerned only this scope. In 2.0, the scope has been expanded to include non-personal data and technologies so that concepts such as dpv:Purpose can be used to describe more use-cases https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-scope . Change in repo structure: The folder structure of the https://github.com/w3c/dpv has been changed to reflect the versioned IRIs. The two folders 1.0 and 2.0 contain the respective versions https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-repo . Change in extension names: Various extensions have been renamed and re-organised for consistency by removing the dpv- prefix e.g. dpv-pd extension in 1.0 has been renamed to pd. New extensions have been added to DPV e.g. AI, LEGAL-US, and EU-AIAct and earlier draft extensions have been further refined e.g. RISK and TECH https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-repo . Do I need to update or change something? Mostly no, except in specific cases. https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-implementation . Change in concepts: In total, DPV 2.0 and all its extensions contain 2662 concepts, and compared to 1.0 - 1017 concepts have been added and 805 concepts removed. The count of added and removed concepts include moving concepts between extensions https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-terms . Development process: The development process for DPV has changed to reflect best practices and improvements identified. This includes changes to the way releases are generated by only using the `+dev+` branch for ongoing developments and not changing the `+main+` branch except for releases https://w3id.org/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-dev === Existing and New Extensions Detailed logs are present in the https://w3c.github.io/dpv/2.0/changelog#change-terms . This includes both the default _RDFS+SKOS_ serialisation as well as the _OWL_ serialisation - which is present in the same folder with suffix `-owl` in the filename. The folders also contain _CSV_ serialisations of concepts (so please do not use any other CSVs found in the repo as they are not '`production-ready`'). == Contributors Thanks to the following members of the DPVCG: * Harshvardhan J.
