There's been a few suggestions on the other thread.

Liam's already mentioned "Book Typography" by Mitchell and Wightman.

I also like "A Type Primer" by John Kane [2].  The chapter on grids, which
works through the development of some grids, is much better than the
treatment usual in other books of being shown other people's finished
products.  The grid that builds up to the spreads shown on page 211 are
beyond what you could do automatically with XSL-FO, so I keep hoping that
CSS Grid Layout [1] will rise to being able to handle it.

"Book Design" by Andrew Haslam is just what it says on the cover: a
'comprehensive and practical guide'.

If out-of-print books were in scope, there's one from 1948 [1] that I
like, too.
