Re: [geolocation-sensor] OGC SensorThings API

Hi,

Thank you Carl for informing us of this related work happening at the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).

It seems W3C's and OGC's geolocation efforts are complementary and we should share expertise where it makes sense. You already found our mailing list. In addition, all technical discussions and work happen in the group's GitHub repositories https://www.w3.org/das/roadmap We'd invite any interested OGC participants who'd like to get more involved to join our group at https://www.w3.org/das/participate OGC is a W3C Member, and so are many of the OGC member companies.

Based on my understanding, OGC SensorThings API defines a REST API and targets IoT devices. W3C Geolocation API (and its next version Geolocation Sensor API) exposes similar information via a JavaScript API to web pages with a browser as the primary implementation target.

I notice you're already connected with W3C's Web of Things efforts https://www.w3.org/WoT/ -- that group seems highly relevant to your work.

Thanks,

Hi

I was checking the GeoLocation API and discovered that there is work now happening on a sensor geolocation API.

I was wondering if anyone in the group working this API is familiar with the Sensor API work in the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)?

For example, check out the SensorThings API standard.

Any questions, please let me know. Also, I have alerted the relevant OGC members about this W3C activity in case they would like to help.
