Hi All, A First Public Working Draft (FPWD) of the Geolocation Sensor specification was published yesterday, 21 Aug 2018: https://www.w3.org/TR/geolocation-sensor/ Congratulations to the contributors and thanks to Fuqiao for helping with the publication process. This specification first incubated in the Web Incubator CG was brought into this group as part of the recent recharter. The Geolocation WG responsible for the earlier Geolocation API was closed in 2017 and DAS WG was identified as the most suitable new home for the next-generation Geolocation work. This journey is now beginning. The web developer community has showed interest toward the Generic Sensor-based Geolocation Sensor recently (see e.g. [1]), so we hope to get more web developer feedback and involvement to ensure key use cases are addressed properly, including those not catered for by the old Geolocation API. And thanks to Kenneth, we have a polyfill implementation [2] that'll allow you to get a feel of the API right away. Please take a look at the open issues [3], join the discussion, and invite your geolocation-minded friends and colleagues to the group :-) Thanks, -Anssi (DAS WG co-chair) [1] https://mobiforge.com/design-development/the-generic-sensor-api [2] https://github.com/kenchris/sensor-polyfills [3] https://github.com/w3c/geolocation-sensor/issues
