We've looked internally at how to implement wake lock, and it seems pretty straight forward - as we would just leverage our existing infrastructure from the fullscreen API (which implicitly engages a wake lock). Having said that, expect 6-12 month between when we start implementing, and when we would expect to see it ship in a product (i.e., somewhere between mid 2016-2017 or possibly later).
