Initial ED of the Generic Sensor API

Hi all,

I've pushed a first version of the ED[1] of the Generic Sensor API to
the GitHub repository[2] earlier today.

As you'll see, it is still very, very raw, with lots of things in flux
and plenty of open issues.

Comments, preferably through GH issues[3], welcomed.
