[Vibration API] Resolution of question re device mode - please confirm by 16 July

Felipe

In response to your question the DAP WG has updated the Vibration editors draft Introduction [1] to clarify that the Notification API is appropriate, as follows

[[
Introduction

This section is non-normative.

The API is specifically designed to address use cases that require simple
tactile feedback only. Use cases requiring more fine-grained control are
out of scope for this specification. This API is not meant to be used as a
generic notification mechanism. Such use cases may be handled using the Web
Notifications [notifications] specification. In addition, determining
whether vibration is enabled is out of scope for this specification.

Does this address your concern? If so we will close this issue associated with the Vibration API Last Call.

Please respond by the 16 July. If we do not hear from you we will assume you agree with the resolution (but a positive response is greatly preferred and sooner is better).

Thanks!

Hi.

Is there(or there will be) a way I can find out if the device is in silent mode?

I mean, I could perform a "bip" sound in my webapp when something happens...but if the user has put his device in "meeting mode", I will just vibrate it instead...is this(or will it be) possible somehow?

Regards.
