RE: ISSUE-67: Naming of "device"

What about navigator.dap.* ?
It seems we should not put too much semantics behind the name, because it will probably detach sooner or later anyway.
Then it seems better to have something completely irrelevant than just half-relevant or inconsistently relevant, IMHO.

"navigator" stems from a product, "dap" would do from the WG's name.
We could have just some fun with naming :).
It seems that the real technical issues are somewhere else.

Thanks,
Marcin

service is better. However, isn't geolocation a service? Isn't mouse input a service? Everything can be seen as a service too.... which can also be a slippery slope.

Dion, I agree on your arguments against the "device" namespace. That's why my first choice is "service" (even though I am working at a "device" company :) )

I know that there are already minutes on this, but I am with Doug. Having a namespace like this adds nothing and feels arbitory. My laptop is a device. Geolocation is one example. Access to video recording abilities? If you look to the future won't MOST APIs be available through "devices"? It feels like a decision based on the naming of this working group and should be reconsidered. (This is coming from someone who works for a "device" company)

Looking forward to the tequila.
