Just my 2 cents: I think the issue is for how long it would be fixed. Taking the proposal from John [1] where the actual realization of the API could e.g. be network based, we could want to start with "network.*" object (e.g. your inbox would be retrieved from the network by URI). Anyway, I think device.* could be a compromise for DAP. (the other API could wait for Network API & Policy WG, NAP).
