Why, though? If that's really where implementers are at, I think they're exactly wrong — geofencing has *infinitely* higher privacy risk and \(I claim, based on this very thread,\) approximately **zero** use-cases.

Yes, persisting location access would likely entail a wake lock \(not a screen lock, though!\)

But I think that's not exactly a "problem", since *of course* I don't want my phone going all the way into deep sleep and shutting off the GPS antenna when I'm *trying* to record a bike ride, or a truck ride, or a hike, or a ski trip, or...
