I've been following this issue and past ones for some time now and I want to share my gratitude. This is a challenging space. An app I work on regularly for my employer is a hybrid app mainly because we need background tracking (location sharing at times and fencing throughout the user's workday). Figuring out and enabling background location tracking features in browsers will be, in my opinion, a huge step forward for standalone web apps.
