Reading back through the OP link to the minutes, I'm not sure I understand the rationale behind moving the permission to camera in order to move this API forward. Looking at @rakuco's notes above it seems that using the same camera permission is going to cause more confusion and edge cases in the wild. Would it be possible for getUserMedia to implicitly grant an ambient light sensor permission instead?
