I'm fine with what you suggest. I also understand what you mention about default/auto, but it is nice to have both options (of course then they will depend on implementers). But having those options could let the Chrome team adjust what they actually have to match the new values. Maybe on some OS/devices default and auto would lead to the same implementation, but I prefer to have all.
