Concerning the future of the "Decisions and Decision-Making Community Group" at W3C

Dear colleagues,
as you are aware, this group was initiated by me and Jeff Waters in
2012, as a continuation of the previous incubator group on the same
topic. Our intention was to carry on and further develop the work we did
there. However, due to lack of time, the group work never really took off.

At one point, I volunteered to chair the group, but since then I have
unfortunately not been able to properly manage the group and start off
the work, mainly due to lack of time on my part. At the moment I am on
maternity leave, and will not be back in office until the autumn, hence,
this situation will not improve at least for the next half a year or so.

Nevertheless, I still feel that this is a highly interesting topic, and
a lot has also happened around Semantic Web initiatives since 2012 that
could impact decision support systems. So, it would be interesting to
see what this group would be able to achieve, given the proper
management! I would therefore like to initiate a discussion among you
(the members of the group) here on the mailing-list, and suggest that
you 1) decide if you also feel this group is worth keeping, or if you'd
rather we suggest the W3C to shut it down, and 2) in case you want to
keep it, propose someone else to lead the group (in addition to me, or
as a replacement to me - I'll agree to either approach) and decide on a
set of steps for kick-starting the group work/discussions.

Best regards,
Eva Blomqvist
