The W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) Device Description Working Group (DDWG) [1] is pleased to announce the publication of the Device Description Repository Requirements, version 1.0. [2] This document outlines the technical requirements of a Device Description Repository that will serve to provide information about Web-enabled devices so that content may be adapted for these devices. The document was edited by David Sanders of Vodafone with significant contributions from the DDWG members. The group will now turn its attention to design and implementation issues, and encourages all interested parties to send feedback relating to this document (and any other DDWG document) via this list. Abstract: =========================== This W3C Working Draft specifies the requirements for a logical reference repository for device descriptions. This document does not specify a definitive list of device descriptions rather it specifies requirements not only on the reference device descriptions repository itself but also on the provision and management of device descriptions, and the discovery and access to the repository and its device descriptions. This document forms one of three W3C notes within the scope of the W3C Mobile Web Initiative, Device Description Working Group (DDWG). The requirements in this document are not only derived from the described use-cases but also build on the information described in the DDWG Landscape and Ecosystem documents. =========================== On behalf of DDWG, Rotan Hanrahan (Chair) [1] http://www.w3.org/2005/MWI/DDWG/ [2] http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/WD-DDR-requirements-20060410/
