There appears to be some confusion in the working group on how constraints can work. Just because a shape associated with a class can only do certain things, this does not mean that a constraint is so limited. For example, the two OWL constraints in S4 (https://www.w3.org/2014/data-shapes/wiki/User_Stories#S4:_Issue_repository) show how to have OWL constraints provide two different "shapes" depending on some property value of instances of a class. SPIN can do similar things, as also shown for S4. peter
