I think this test: http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/20101001/html4/word-spacing-characters-001.htm http://test.csswg.org/suites/css2.1/20101001/xhtml1/word-spacing-characters-001.xht is invalid. It appears to me that the control lines for the last two tests have fewer spacers than they should; the next-to-last should have four rather than three, and the last should have six rather than four. (This since 16.4 says 'word-spacing' influences every space or non-breaking space remaining after white-space processing.) -David -- L.
