> The [design principle](https://drafts.csswg.org/css-forms-1/#basic-appearance-principles) is "The controls are recognizable and usable on their own without additional styles." The principles are great as a guide but clearly there's a need for interpretation and judgment. > The styles are consistent across controls…in look & feel. There's also this, and I suggest that if rounding and borders are used at all, they should be consistent and apply to the control, as a whole. This leads me to [the proposal here](https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/13520#issuecomment-4001368256). -- GitHub Notification of comment by sorvell Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/13527#issuecomment-4001388542 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
