I am not making fun of Japanese users. I read Japanese myself. I agree it is a serious issue. I agree it needs fixing. My impression is that the necessary fix is either in the font itself (which is not covered at all by the specification), or in the browser, to work around the bug in the font (which is already allowed by the specification). Here is the language in the specification: > UA may choose not to trim (kern) when the UA determined the trimming (kerning) may cause glyph cut-offs, collisions, or excessive kerning through glyph bounding box, glyph metrics, or font features. It seems to me that it already supports the kind of fix you want.
