That is not how I interpreted the resolution fwiw. Nothing in the resolution says that `<string>` should get custom-ident restrictions. The resolution only says to serialize to strings to the extent possible? It's not a hard change to make either way, but it's rather a waste of time and unnecessary compat risk to change 2 implementations as opposed to one.
