@dbaron That's seems only hypothetical, as mixins are applied using an `@apply` rule. And extending `<custom-ident>` like that would possibly also cause issues in other places.

Anyway, I don't really have a strong opinion about that. I only followed what's currently defined for [custom media queries](https://drafts.csswg.org/mediaqueries-5/#custom-mq).
And if we decide that we should make it explicit by using a function, we should do the same for custom media queries.
