@LeaVerou I wouldn't seriously implement my example. It can overcorrect and under correct chroma, but it goes to show that even poorly approximated chroma reduction can be pretty convincing visually. I guess you could use linear spaces which might improve the over/under correction, but either way, they are still fairly poor approximations overall.

Yep, and that is what I was mentioning earlier, it is all about the use cases when determining what is best to preserve. It is interesting though that when using darker gradients, Scale LH's allowance of lightness shift becomes more noticeable. I imagine if that shift could be reduced some, it would definitely help overall.
