emilio has just created a new issue for https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts: == [css-pseudo] Document reasoning for property restrictions == cc: #9453 https://drafts.csswg.org/css-pseudo/#first-letter-styling / https://drafts.csswg.org/css-pseudo/#first-line-styling doesn't document very well why those properties were chosen. Also the fact that it leaves a lot of wiggle room to user agents is an interoperability issue. Similarly, https://drafts.csswg.org/css-pseudo/#placeholder-pseudo isn't clear as to _why_ the first-line properties apply to it.
