Is this proposal and https://github.com/w3c/css-houdini-drafts/issues/857 mutually exclusive (under the same function syntax), or can they co-exist? It would be great if they could co-exist, for evolution as well, e.g. you start off with a custom function that is just syntactic sugar, then down the line realize you need JS, you can just switch to JS without having to rewrite all your code.
