Also, “shown” or (particularly) “hidden” could cause confusion of the kind mentioned in [the Note](https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/7319#issuecomment-1242377579) with `display:none`. I.e. something can be in the “open” state but not rendered.
