I strongly disagree that your Category 4 is just "lax syntax in preprocessors". The underlying reason for Nesting to exist is to reduce repetition. Whether this repetition exists because you're repeatedly styling the same element with different more specific things, or styling descendants of the element, or styling siblings and other things, is irrelevant; they're all addressed exactly equally by Nesting, and that's a strength of the feature.
