It looks like we've got a stupid standoff between the browsers and the spec. The browser people will wait for the spec to specify it first, but here in the suggestion for addition to the spec, the spec designers are saying to implement it in the browser first. Somebody do something please, instead of waiting on the other person to do it. Just add to the spec that "calc(auto)" should calculate the value of "auto" for the property. Please.
