I love the idea here because the conditions may be created _and_ referenced from within CSS. This shares _some_ thematic similarity with the [custom `:state()` pseudo-class](https://github.com/w3c/webcomponents/blob/gh-pages/proposals/custom-states-and-state-pseudo-class.md). They both help authors style by custom conditions, and both without being directly reflected in serialized HTML.
