 IMO option (1) looks simpler this way:

1. alignment:
    - if `stretch`, or `normal` behaving as `stretch`: stretch.
    - otherwise:
       1. intrinsic size.
       2. transferred (by aspect-ratio) stretch alignment.
       3. transferred (by aspect-ratio) definite size.
 2. definite size.
