Re: [csswg-drafts] Let’s Define CSS 4 (#4770)

This is a great conversation to be having and I'm not sure which side I come down on yet. I agree that "CSS3", "HTML5" and "Responsive Web Design" being Things™ definitely helped convince less technical stakeholders that something "new" was happening and that they didn't want to be left behind.

I think among the web dev community things like Flexbox and Grid are generally pretty well known but I don't think they are seen as the same sort of new paradigm that CSS3/HTML5 were. One of the things that I think really helped with CSS3 in particular(at least among devs/designers) were sites like CSS Zen Garden that really showed off what you can build with these new features. I'm sure there are similar things out there now showing what you can do with Grid, Flexbox and all the other latest CSS features, but I don't think many people outside of the web dev community really understand how much has changed since "CSS3".

Something I'm especially interested in is the [CSS Paged Media](https://www.w3.org/TR/css-page-3/) spec and the [CSS Generated Content for Paged Media Module](https://www.w3.org/TR/2014/WD-css-gcpm-3-20140513/). At my company we use the CSS defined by these specs to generate very complex PDF documents. And now with an open source project like [Paged.js](https://www.pagedjs.org/), we have a really good polyfill for rendering "print CSS" in the browser.

I'm curious how much people know about this "print CSS" stuff and how it fits into this larger conversation.
