One note on the [initial comment](https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/4116#issue-467896975)'s section on **Kanbun**: > This is particularly bad in vertical writing mode (which is common in CJK), where the baseline is in the middle of the line, meaning the kanbun image would naturally be in a completely incorrect place. I don't think this is the case, since in vertical writing mode, the image will end up centered, which is likely to produce the correct result.
