I don't see how this "disrespects" the user's features. The whole point of css is that pages are allowed to style their own content. Are you saying that there should be a way for a user provided stylesheet to override the <meta> tag? (ie an user that never wants to see a light or dark themed page) The [prefers-color-scheme](https://drafts.csswg.org/mediaqueries-5/#prefers-color-scheme) feature suffers from the flash of white alongside not being able to style UA provided UI.
