I can think of a surprisingly well-known case where the original viewing condition of the medium is _portrait_ (or _spread_), but for special pages, the medium needs to be rotated by a quarter-turn although the viewing mode and page layout remains _portrait_: [**centerfolds**](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centerfold). In some cases they are not folded at all, but a magazine with A4-spread has an full-sheet A3 poster in the middle.
