I'm guessing a number of those anchors were copied over from Selectors 3, which for awhile had them auto-generated from the title text rather than manually chosen. Some of the ones which don't follow the pattern cover multiple pseudos within the same section, so some other approach had to be chosen. Agreed that altogether it's a mess. :) I'm not sure what's a good way forward for the section IDs. Wrt automatic linking... in general there's a `<dfn>` on the name of the selector in the paragraph where it's defined, and that has an ID which follows a more rigorous pattern. It's not as nice as taking the section heading, but it's there. If you want to be fancy, perhaps you can target that <dfn> and then walk up to the previous header and grab its ID. :) -- GitHub Notification of comment by fantasai Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/2255#issuecomment-362464403 using your GitHub account
