@dholbert was pointing out that this is much easier to implement correctly, and is simpler to specify. It also neatly solves the problem of distinguishing between `min-width: 0` and `min-width: auto` on bock/inline replaced elements, which we need to do to implement https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/1722
