No doubt there are interop problems here, but there are *some* things that implementations seem to agree on. In https://jsbin.com/goqepuw/edit?html,output I managed to write a test where the only thing that fails is that Edge doesn't expose the src.

Perhaps the interface doesn't make sense, but given how long it's been around it's plausible that code out there depends on some subset of this.
