There's a long-term plan to support script-defined timing functions 
but we're waiting on certain houdini components to materialize first. 
I think the current name of the piece we're missing is a 
[worklet](https://drafts.css-houdini.org/worklets/) -- basically we 
want a bit of script that runs with very limited context and no side 
effects that we can run on either the main thread or compositor.
