So our headlines today: 1. Please share, post (or repost) the V1.0 white paper (see instructions below) 2. Join the LinkedIn First Person Project page 3. LFDT announces the launch of the Decentralized Trust Graph Working Group 4. Progress report on FPP funding 5. Reminder about the First Person Project mailing list subgroups available now Details: #1: FPP WHITE PAPER PUBLISHED — PLEASE SHARE THE NEWS After two rounds of review from over 50 FPP supporters, the First Person Project White Paper V1.0 is ready! Thanks to Margeigh Novotny and Martina Kolpondinos, we now have a dedicated page on the First Person Network website to serve as the long-term home for the white paper. You can bookmark this page and hand out this URL to anyone because the latest version of the paper will always live here: https://www.firstperson.network/whitepaper As I write this, the page only has a link to the PDF version of the white paper. Later today Margeigh will add a link to the Google doc version <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RtS86BqyVn3i3mXm48VhC-SRaYvW2W_MvR4w6x9KQWY/edit?usp=sharing> of the paper as well for anyone who doesn’t want to download a PDF. Based on the feedback we received, the main changes to V1.0 were: - Adding a four page Executive Summary, including a one-page answer to “What is the First Person Project?” - Adding a new opening section to Part Five called, “What is a decentralized trust graph?” - Aligning the information in Part Nine about the First Person Network Cooperative and the First Person Fund with feedback from our attorney Jason Wiener. ACTION ITEM FOR ALL INTERESTED FPP COMMUNITY MEMBERS: please write your own post or repost this one I just made on LinkedIn: ( https://www.linkedin.com/posts/drummondreed_decentralizedidentity-decentralizedtrust-share-7374769833311322112-2GzN After two months of drafting and review from dozens of contributors, the First Person Project White Paper V1.0 is here (link in the first comment). WARNING: this is not your typical white paper. We took the time to describe all the dimensions of the First Person Project as a solution for privacy-preserving proof of personhood using decentralized trust graphs. However, we included a four-page Executive Summary (plus a Visual Overview slide deck if you prefer the fast lane). We look forward to your feedback and comments—and urge anyone interested to join the new Decentralized Trust Graph Working Group launching Sept 24 at the Linux Foundation, jointly hosted by Trust Over IP (ToIP) and Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF). #2: JOIN THE LINKEDIN FIRST PERSON PROJECT PAGE Thanks to Martina Kolpondinos we now have a LinkedIn page for the First Person Project: https://www.linkedin.com/company/first-person-project/ Please visit that page to follow it—we will also start sending out follower invitations later today. #3: LFDT ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF THE DECENTRALIZED TRUST GRAPH WORKING GROUP LF Decentralized Trust published this announcement of the launch of the Decentralized Trust Graph Working Group <https://www.lfdecentralizedtrust.org/blog/toip-and-dif-announce-three-new-working-groups-for-trust-in-the-age-of-ai> starting with these kickoff meetings on Wednesday 24 September: - North America/Europe: 08:00-09:00 PT / 15:00-16:00 UTC (NA/EU) - APAC: 18:00-19:00 PT / 01:00-02:00 UTC Any member of Trust Over IP (ToIP) or Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF) may participate in the DTGWG. If you are not yet a member of either, you may join ToIP at this link <https://trustoverip.org/get-involved/membership/> (both free and paid membership options are available—for individual memberships, please follow these very helpful instructions from Geoff Turk <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oztWGFJ_Nws5ky8G4dQ-mz1SJ9SusAsToldeim7kqlk/edit?usp=sharing>) or join DIF at this link <https://identity.foundation/join/>. #4: PROGRESS REPORT ON FPP FUNDING I have spent the past two weeks in meetings about the First Person Project in San Francisco and New York City (with a stop in Hangzhou, China to give a talk about FPP at the GOSIM 2025 conference). Although no one has written a check yet, more pathways to the bootstrap funding we need are opening up. See Part Nine <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RtS86BqyVn3i3mXm48VhC-SRaYvW2W_MvR4w6x9KQWY/edit?tab=t.0#bookmark=id.kjsxqjvujx1> of the white paper for the overall game plan for forming the First Person Network Cooperative and raising the First Person Fund. #5: REMINDER: 3 FPP SUBGROUP MAILING LISTS NOW AVAILABLE A reminder that we have added three subgroup mailing lists, each with a subgroup manager: - Linux Kernel MVP project: https://first-person-project.groups.io/g/linux-kernel (Geoff Turk) - ZKP architecture: https://first-person-project.groups.io/g/zkp (Hart Montgomery) - Healthcare: https://first-person-project.groups.io/g/healthcare (Jim St. Clair) You can subscribe and visit the archives (all public) of any of these by clicking the links.
