Proposal: Document OpenAttestationHashProof2018

Hi everyone, happy new year 2025. I am representing the Government Technology Agency and Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore to make a proposal to have our OpenAttestationHashProof2018 securing method documented as a VC extension.

Here is our proposed draft write up:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TxhcaXrjNqTO-jqtoTT79j8bgA0PQ87svXChUJ8zzMg/edit?usp=sharing

We are also separately working with Joe Andrieu and Kevin Dean to add our international cross border use case as one of the focal use cases for W3C VC. It is work in progress and here is the issue thread. This is where our OpenAttestationHashProof2018 is used.
https://github.com/w3c/vc-use-cases/issues/157

Our motivation for doing so is that cross-border trade, apart from its nuances that makes decentralized VCs meaningful (ie. fragmented landscape and long stakeholder chain), it is important for our securing method to be accepted as an international standard to promote interoperability.

In addition to our OpenAttestationHashProof2018 securing method, we have also worked with Manu to incorporate our OpenAttestationRenderMethod into the VC Rendering Methods spec. Do note that the OpenAttestationRenderMethod works independently from OpenAttestationHashProof2018 so there is no dependency between the two.

We did a presentation of OpenAttestationRenderMethod to the CCG on July 31 2024.

I hope this is the right forum to raise this. I would appreciate your feedback and be ready to work with you to take this forward. Feel free to clarify and address your concerns.
