The discussion of the proposed new did method, did:cel, on this list has been informative and very helpful. I’d like to express my strong support the formal continuation of the work on did:cel as part of the rechartered agenda of the DID Methods WG. Those organizations looking for better identifiers for the credentials they are issuing to get beyond did:web and its siblings see did:cel and did:webvh as having real potential. Support remains missing for key rotation and updatable did docs in the dids many of us continue using. While similar in some aspects, I also see notable differences that suggest great value in different contexts or use cases.. As a representative of ASU to the W3C CCG and workgroups within it, the interest in digital identifiers beyond those historically drawn from core systems of record, e.g, Student Information Systems, and institutional email, is of growing importance to us. In that role I enthusiastically support/sponsor the CCG and the DID Methods WG the inclusion of did:cel to the work of the group when the recharter vote advances these activities. Both methods show great potential. Happy Holidays!
